Board a Combat Submarine

Not a lot of people know what it’s like to live underwater in a “steel pipe,” particularly with a heavily armed enemy on your tail. To get a glimpse of combat submarine life, visit the USS BOWFIN SUBMARINE MUSEUM AND PARK.

The museum and park are dedicated to the sacrifice of more than 3,500 submarine personnel lost in World War II. On the Bowfin, visitors are given a self-guided, narrated tour using a Walkman- style cassette recorder keyed to stops throughout the submarine.

The campus is undergoing a $20 million revitalization, and portions may be closed to the public during construction, but the VISIT THE STATE CAPITOL PHO TO: D ANIEL R AMIREZ | L OCA TION: HONOL UL U A L ITTL E B IT O F

will remain open. The park is adjacent to USS ARIZONA MEMORIAL VISITOR CENTER AT PEARL HARBOR. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
